The journey to adopt, for DH and I, has been one of ultimate trust. God has stretched us and will continue to do so. We don't want it any other way. To stagnate is to stink. We don't do stink around here. We also do our best not to strive or fret. So, then what?
A plaque in our home reads, "Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart." That verse, from Psalm 37, has an instruction and a blessing. The Psalm tells us to trust, commit, wait, rest, and cease. It's a surrender of the will. It involves the heart and mind being still before the Lord. It also involves our active participation. This surrender doesn't mean that we wait on the couch for the Lord to drop everything in our lap.
There's work to be done in His plan. Work He expects. A diligent, active pursuit of the goal led by his hand. Gains made with honest, righteous hands. Not fretful, dishonest, panicked work done with strife and strain. You see, the Psalm also warns those who gain through wicked, evil schemes. Their day will come, says the Lord, when their sword will enter their own heart. We are not to fret because we see others prospering in their wickedness.
Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness...Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.
God has already done incredible, great things on our journey. We are so excited with anticipation to see how the rest unfolds.
