Sunday, Sunshine & Sweets

I LOVE the sunshine on the snow, the contrast of the blue sky and the stark whiteness of our yard is breathtaking.  Today is just that kind of day.  A little while ago we were looking through a sweet gift given to us by a very dear friend.  It is a tin full of Family Fun Activities.  Well, our little lady, A, grabbed the book of order checks and began to take orders for snacks.  She served us drinks and cookies.  Of course, we all gave her a tip.  She's the best little waitress this side of the Mississippi.  She can't wait to have a little sister, too.
Today, I will work on getting our police clearance requests together.  That is the last bit of dossier paperwork that we need to gather.  Want to know what goes in this dossier?  Here goes:
-- Prospective Adoptive Parent Form
-- Application Letter
-- Certified birth certificates (for both parents)
-- Certified marriage certificate
-- Employment letters (both of us)
-- Certificate of financial status
-- Certificate of general physical examination
-- Police clearance letters (for both)
-- Adoption Home Study
-- Passport photos
-- I-797 Approval Notice (from US immigration services)
-- Family photographs

Now, the Home Study required it's own set of documents.  Ready?
-- Medical forms
-- Financial records (tax docs, personal statment of worth, etc.)
-- Employment letter
-- Child abuse clearances
-- FBI fingerprinting clearances
-- Questionnaires about our families
-- Questionnaires about adopting
-- Family photo
-- Reference letters
-- Copy of marriage license
-- Clearance from the PA State Police

It looks crazy long!  But, how do you eat an elephant?  One bite at a time.
